Constitutions around the world vary considerably. Some are better than others, but they have all failed to solve the many wicked problems of life - migration, child neglect, violence, enduring hardship, crime, poor housing, and poor schooling. None are designed to counter the power of large companies and handle the decision complexity wrought by globalisation, information mountains, and technology proliferation.

Now, you might expect there to be reams of study papers by constitutional academics and thinkers identifying ways to rectify these gaping holes. But there are not!

We are proposing a new confederate federal style of government that will consist of the regions of England, Northern Ireland and the countries of Scotland and Wales. Under such a system, each territory, including Yorkshire, would have its own constitution and sovereign control over its internal affairs.

We intend to have the People's Constitution up and ready to present to the citizens of Yorkshire for their support and to the government for its enactment before the next General Election, which gives us just four to five years to complete the task. This forum is a part of that process. We invite you to contribute by sharing your thoughts on any of the group's four main objectives or any other areas you may wish to raise.
